(Week 1 Review) Directed by Sofia CoppolaReleased in 2003My rating for this movie would have to be a 9/10. This is thanks to the beautiful job done by Eddy Murray and Scarlett Johansson to show the emotions of their characters. I absolutely loved watching this movie like it was so cool to see Murray in a movie where he is playing a serious role where it isn't just a comedy film. I watched it at night time with the window open in my bed so like the lighting and my level of comfort in my bed was awesome. This movie was a real different kind of film for what I am used to. As my top five movie list indicates, I tend to watch action movies like marvel or James Bond ones.
This movie where there is no real dramatic climax fight scene was something I think I really loved since it was just a change from the normal. Specifically some scenes that I liked most where the ones where the two of them had their moments where they swam in the pool. Also the solidarity of Johansson's character when she was staring and thinking at the side of her room's window was just pure peacefulness. Even though it was a short shot, I feel like this scene really represented the entirety of the movie. The whole film depicts the thoughts of the two characters as they think about what they want to be in life and dream about what their lives could be like. I just love this especially because it made me think and it kind of gave me a sense of pride as I felt like I could relate to the book and I could depict what the message was. It sounds odd but that's just how I felt. I also am struggling with the same thing the two characters are and I'm sure there are a lot of others who feel the same. Wondering about who you are and what your purpose is in life is something we never really do figure out. Also thanks to my dad for recommending it to me as he has kindly supplied me with a watchlist which I hope to conquer over the course of this year.
